Challenge
A fire destroyed a building owned and managed by Botwin Family Partners that had been in the Botwin family for more than 35 years, putting the future of the displaced tenants and the owner in jeopardy. Credibility was needed for tenants to be retained, to win community support for the new building’s modern design, and to get the financing needed to rebuild.
Solution
An ongoing community outreach strategy was ramped up, elevating owner Diane Botwin’s visibility as a thought leader and good neighbor through professional association, neighborhood governmental group presentations, events, and media coverage via profiles as well as authored articles. In addition, special attention was paid to the “ground mending” event hosted to mark the transition of the site from one of devastation to one of renewal.
Results
Community leaders, elected officials, peers and neighbors rallied in support, accelerating decision making that allowed the new building to get underway, establish a solid foundation of good will and credibility for Botwin, and elevate owner Diane Botwin to an industry leadership position that continues to serve the business today.
